For the lucky ones who are able to enjoy driving in Tokyo, there's a wide variety of places to enjoy Japan's expansive car culture. Satoshi Suzuki – founder of sweatshirt cult favorite clothier LOOPWHEELER – practices what he preaches when it comes to automotive lifestyle. Having just completed a wildly popular collaboration with Type 7 and House Industries on a Porsche-centric capsule, the Tokyo native took us for a "loop" around the city and highlighted a few of his favorite places to take in all things auto. Some are popular pull-offs to hang out, others are merely great places to park and enjoy a break. There's even a few of his favorite restaurants owned by fellow petrolheads and even a "hidden" hangout for picture taking.

"The beautiful ginkgo tree-lined streets, which reach their peak around late-November, have now become popular spots for car photography. With cafes like Kihachi, Royal Garden Cafe, and Shake Shack nearby, you can enjoy a coffee break while admiring the cars."

"It is a parking area located on a highway in the Kanto region, now known to people all over the world. Car enthusiasts gather there, proudly driving their beloved cars, and engage in lively discussions about cars."

"Although it is a much smaller PA compared to Daikoku PA, it is located within Tokyo, and nowadays, tourists from overseas gather with cameras in hand to photograph the cars. One notable feature is the higher proportion of Porsches compared to Daikoku PA."

"This new service center for classic cars in Tokyo, which opened on February 10, 2025, is the place I’ll be relying on most from now on."

"Founded in 1884, this restaurant carries on the tradition of Edo’s soba culture into the present day. You can order dishes like soba miso, wasabi kamaboko, grilled chicken, and soba-gaki, and it’s recommended to finish with zaru soba. If you still have room, tempura soba is a more refined way to end the meal, a choice for those who know the true way to enjoy it."

"This long-established confectionery shop was founded in 1884. Of course, their classic raisin biscuits and fruit cakes are a must-try, but the seasonal fruit cakes that change with the seasons are exceptional. My personal recommendation is the fruit punch; if there's free stock available, it's a must-buy."

"1988 Porsche 911 Carrera owner, who's mastering Edomae-style sushi. After training at the renowned sushi restaurant 'Sushi Shin' in Nishi-Azabu, he went independent. Enjoy the simplicity of Edomae-style sushi, crafted with authentic expertise."

"After training at the highly acclaimed Nihonbashi Kakigara-cho Sugita, often praised as one of the best in Japan, he went on to open his own sushi restaurant, 'Sushidokoro Yamato.' Recently becoming the proud owner of a 992.2 Carrera, Master Yamato’s sushi is a heartfelt, honest expression of Edomae sushi that truly stirs the soul."

"The French café 'AUX BACCHANALES,' with the ambiance of Paris, is conveniently open until 10 p.m. Recommended dishes include steak frites, croque-monsieur, and croque-madame, along with a variety of sweets. If you feel like it, why not try fishing at the nearby Benkei fishing pond?"

Completed in 2019, designed by architect Kengo Kuma, the stadium is based on the concept of "The Stadium of the Forest." It features a hybrid structure of wood and steel, embodying the essence of a traditional Japanese stadium that opens up naturally to its surroundings. The roof is emphasized by a three-tiered overhang, said to be inspired by the five-story pagoda of Horyu-ji, which highlights the horizontality of the design. The photo spot is an engine warming point located just before you ascend the elevated ramp to the Shuto Expressway from the Gaien exit. The exact location is a secret, but you can try to find it by following the outer perimeter, which is just over 1 km, and making a left turn around it."

This flagship store, designed by Masamichi Katayama of Wonderwall®, opened in 2005. A notable feature is the ability to observe the actual TSURIAMIKI in operation. To wrap up my “Loop” Drive, I’d be truly happy if you could take your time here and enjoy the Loopwheeler sweatshirts at your leisure.
