A favorite amongst Flushing locals. White Bear has been serving its awesome carb-overloaded menu for countless years but has recently exploded in popularity thanks to social media. We'll save you time – if it's your first visit, #6 (Wontons w/ Hot Sauce aka Chili Oil Wontons) is all you need to order. Comes in a dozen for – at time of writing – $10 USD. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Wah Fung No. 1

Wah Fung is Chinatown's best kept secret, until it wasn't. Nevertheless, this is THE spot for anyone craving "saam bo faan," Cantonese for three sides and a rice. Choose from roast pork, crispy pig, duck, or soy sauce chicken to go along with your large portion of rice, and they even give you a soup to wash it all down. 2+ lbs. of food for $6.95 USD.

Grand St. Skewers

More so a snack than a meal per se, the Grand Street Skewer Cart is your go-to late night solution for when you're out and buzzed. Don't limit yourself to just beef or chicken, the lamb – perfectly seasoned with cumin – is the real show stopper. Each skewer is priced individually, but most are around $1.50 USD, so grab a grip of 'em.

Taiwanese Pork Chop House

If you do have time to sit and chill, Taiwanese Pork Chop House is a great stopover between shopping. For first timers, definitely order a pork chop on the side as well, and be liberal with the chili oil. A bowl of their signature Pork Chop Noodles is yours for $7.75 USD (cash only.)

Sun Hing Lung Co

Cheung Fun – steamed rice rolls – are the best blank canvas for hungry folks. The whole point is to mix in whatever you want, but we recommend the staples: curry fish balls, roast pork, Chinese sausage and chives for first timers. Next, drench it with soy sauce, hot sauce and, yes, peanut butter. For a more chewy variety, go for the "Joo Cheung Fun" that's more tightly rolled into logs.

Vanessa's Dumpling House

Vanessa's is a neighborhood staple. Known for quick and easy fares, come through with a few dollars (dw: they take credit card too) and nab yourself a grip of pan fried dumplings with cabbage and pork inside. At time of writing, they're 8 for $6.50 USD, which is enough for any appetite.

B&H Dairy

Known for its kosher offerings, B&H Dairy has been a neighborhood staple since 1938. For just $7 USD you can get their popular Breakfast, available until 11 a.m., which comes with two eggs in any style, home fries, homemade challah bread, and even a drink. B&H also offers an array of omelets, overstuff sandwiches, and more all under $10 USD.

Peppa's Jerk Chicken

For those looking for a protein rich meal, head over to Peppa's Jerk Chicken for their lunch option. The Jerk Chicken option comes in at just $8 USD during the day and features Peppa's freshly grilled Jerk Chicken packed with heat and flavorful smoke. The lunch platter comes with rice and beans, or just rice, gravy, salad, steamed cabbage, or sweet plantains as a side.

Joe's Steam Rice Roll

Serving up a traditional Cantonese breakfast dish, Joe's Steam Rice Roll offers an array of options under $10 USD. With a few locations throughout New York City, these steamed rice rolls a lot of flavor with the special soy sauce they're served alongside.
